This small appellation is located just south of the Sancerre region, and includes several villages. The Pellé vineyards are located in and around the village of Morogues, and they are probably the best known, high-quality producer from the appellation. The soil is very similar to that of Sancerre–clay and chalk, and thus the wines can be easily mistaken. The difference seems to be in the weight and attack, with Menetou-Salons showing more finesse and reserve while Sancerres are a bit more heavy and powerful.
Nice citrus and minerals in the nose lead into a medium rich sauvignon with some melon and exotic fruit flavors, crisp acidity and good length. Very food friendly.
