The single-vineyard Premier Cru Les Hautes Chêvres is located in the upper sector of the Cumières growing area and has been renown for growing Pinot Meunier & Pinot Noir for as long as records have been kept. The area is situated over the firm limestone bedrock covered with a somewhat thicker (in cms) layer of fine clay, which these Pinots prefer.
The resulting wines show rich, multi-dimensional layered red fruit propped up by very fine acidity. Although they drink exceptionally well in their youth melding power and elegance, the benefit from bottle aging cannot be understated. Over time, the slow transformation will reveal a vast array of complex fruit, mineral and nut aromatics all bound together in a harmonious package with perfect balance and precision.
