From a parcel of the 1er Cru Fourchaume vineyard which has always been called L’Homme Mort (nobody knows why…) where the southwest exposure is perfectly conducive to growing great Chardonnay. Afternoon sunshine combined with cool nights team up to produce perfect balance in the wine. The kimméridgien bedrock, complete with ancient seashell fossils from when the entire region was beneath the north sea, provides the mineral foundation from whence this stunning wine rises.
The classic nose of minerals, citrus, brioche and stone fruits make for a truly enticing entry. The acid/ripe fruit balance in the mouth is stunning with saline tinges and bracing acidity that dance on the palate with warm, sexy fruit. The persistent finale is impressive, to say the least. Drink this wine with anything…really anything.
Future vintages of this wine will be labeled L’Homme Mort.
