The Las Colinas Syrah is indicative of what is possible for cool-climate Syrah as it captures the essence of the western Sonoma Coast appellation. Comprised of a blend of biodynamically grown Harrison Grade Estate and organically grown Dusty Lane fruit, élevage in 500-liter French oak puncheons helps to preserve fruit and spice, and affords graceful aging in the cellar. In 2021, the fruit for Las Colinas was fully destemmed, with solid, flavorful berries delivered cleanly into tank for fermentation. A 20-month élevage in neutral oak puncheons, followed by an extra year of bottle
age have yielded an energetic and inviting snapshot of Sonoma Coast Syrah.

The 2021 Las Colinas Syrah showcases the classic coastal Syrah interplay between fruit and umami. Expressive notes of black plum and fresh marionberry lead the charge, layered with deeper tones of cassis and fig. Hints of black olive and soy sauce quickly emerge, adding a savory complexity to the initial fruit impression. A touch of black peppercorn and a whisper of lavender enhance its palatal intrigue, alongside an earthy tobacco
undercurrent. Moderate, pleasantly dry tannins echo throughout, enlivened by a brisk pop of acidity on the finish.

“The 2021 Syrah Las Colinas is ravishing. Juicy dark blue/purplish fruit, dried herbs, lavender, rose petal and black pepper make a strong opening statement. Effusive and bright, with terrific fruit purity, Las Colinas delivers tons of fruit intensity in a mid-weight, plump style that is hugely appealing.”
