0.55 hectares from the Bas de Combe next to Chaumes and beneath Boudots. Chalky clay soil with lots of rocks. Aromatics of red fruit and red fruit eau de vie. Quite tannic, aging required.
2004 Nuits St.-Georges: (from 80 year old vines in Bas de Combes). Floral, earth and subtle notes of smoked meat combine with rustic, punchy and nicely robust medium full flavors that offer good complexity and solid finishing length if not much in the way of elegance or finesse. Still, there is ample Nuits character and this is no shrinking violet. (86-88)/2011+ (Burghound)
