Dierke’s organically certified hillside vineyard is nestled just off Bodega Highway within a diverse habitat of fruit trees, vegetable gardens, and beneficial plants. Notoriously exuberant and powerful, like the grower himself, the Dierke vineyard teems with life every season. The 2021 was another Dierke vintage with impeccable farming and exceptional grower execution. The pristine fruit quality present at harvest allowed
for a seamless reception in the cellar with only minimal sorting necessary. We chose to age the bold 2021 Dierke Pinot Noir for 17 months in both barrel and puncheon, and an additional year of bottle age prior to release has only further elevated the potential of this distinguished site.

The 2021 Dierke Pinot Noir embodies a dark, heady elegance, with rich notes of huckleberry, black plum, and a subtle black tea complexity. Earthy hints of mushroom and forest floor add depth, while perfumed violets dance along the palate. Impressively structured with grippy tannins, the 2021 Dierke is delicious at present,
while its notable density ensures lengthy aging potential.

“The 2021 Pinot Noir Dierke is laced with dark red cherry fruit, dried flowers, spice, sweet pipe tobacco and cedar. Linear and very much tightly wound, the 2021 is going to need at least a few years in bottle to really blossom. Its pretty impressive though, even in the early going.”
