Dusty Lane winds down and around Dierke’s organically certified hillside vineyard. Tucked away on a southern facing slope, the site is consistently flushed with onshore cooling at dawn and dusk, resulting in extended flavor development and vibrant fruit character. This vineyard gem is sourced exclusively by Radio-Coteau. Following a
31% whole cluster inclusion during fermentation, the 2017 Dusty Lane saw undisturbed sur lie aging for 20 months in 500L once-used seasoned puncheons, adding spice and lift to its already fruit-driven style. The winery has chosen to hold and age the 2017 Dusty Lane in bottle under prime cellar conditions to provide opportunity for its complex
personality to confidently emerge.
With deep, brooding aromatics and a bright, vibrant palate, the 2017 Dusty Lane Syrah is a skillful dance of earth, fruit, and spice reminiscent of the Northern Rhône. Accompanying fresh loganberry and black raspberry fruit notes is an elegant spiciness of nutmeg, black pepper, and licorice. Powerful savory, earthen elements of olive tapenade,
juniper, and a ferrous character lend a seriousness that is deftly balanced by vibrant acidity and a graceful mouthfeel. Structured tannins and a bright pop of bramble fruit highlight the lengthy finish. The 2017 Dusty Lane offers fresh fruit character with a captivating, age worthy structure.
“The 2017 Syrah Dusty Lane is absolutely compelling. Today, the Dusty Lane is super-exotic, layered and inviting. A good deal of whole cluster (31%) brings out tons of dimension in the dark red cherry, cedar, rose petal, sage, mint and orange peel
flavors. A Syrah of striking depth and resonance, the 2017 shows the Radio-Coteau
style at its finest. This is such a wonderfully alluring, sensual wine.”
