2019 is the second time that we have made this small block of Abbey Ridge Pinot noir into a single barrel of wine. The 35 year old vines, composed of Martin Ray Massale, yield a very small crop. Julia is aged for two years in barrique with one additional year in bottle. Its nose is resplendent with blackberries, currants, anise, lavender and dark chocolate, its mouth rich with flavors that extend across the palate giving way to a long lingering finish. Our answer to a Cote de Nuits Grand Cru from the great 2019 vintage
The label represents a native Madrone tree which grows next to the vineyard. Named in honor of Julia Wayne of Abbey Ridge, this extremely limited wine (only 580 bottles) is elegant and charming, just like its namesake.
