From a small planting in the prized Bournais vineyard, these vines are ungrafted, planted on their own roots.  Just a couple barrels of this beauty were made in only the finest vintages. To get a good understanding of why some great producers have replanted vines without American root stock, risking the destruction caused by phylloxera root louse, compare the two cuvées produced from this vineyard.
The nose is very fine already showing hints of exotic fruit, spice and some quince.  In the mouth, the limestone bedrock that vines are growing in really leave their mark.  Great acidity will carry this wine through the ages.
